After Central Park, we had to check out this cathedral. St. John the Divine: the largest gothic cathedral in the world.
and it was huge...
The chapels in the back of the church could take your breath away.
This is actually an Episcopalian cathedral built in 1896, but it takes the gothic design very seriously with tombs of pastors, the design of the main chamber, and the Rose Window.
Late Saturday afternoon, Katie finally got up. We managed to catch a subway to the Rockefeller Center. It's actually just an array of buildings that form the headquarters to two major television channels: Fox News and NBC.
I found this facade pretty cool. You'll find them all over
30 Rock. The GE Tower
NBC Studios.
This is the ticker for Fox News Headquarters.
That night, we managed to celebrate Mass at St. Patrick's Cathedral, which was just around the corner. Folks, this was an amazing cathedral.

The rose window and pipe organ
don't be fooled; that's actually a mosaic.
That's where the photos end. The rest of the story goes like this:
We went to Newark. The weather wasn't good at all. We were stuck. Trying to find a plane into Houston was harder than we thought, until Dad managed to find us a plane to Minneapolis in hopes of transferring to Houston. So we got on. We stayed in Minneapolis for the night because THOSE flights in Houston overbooked when we got there. Next morning, Mom bought Southwest tickets to Chicago and Dallas. Here's the catch: BOTH planes stopped in Houston! uggh. Anyway, we land in Chicago. It would have cost Mom over $300 to change her ticket to Houston, so we take the Dallas plane. After a first stop in Kansas City, we land in Dallas. Mom rented a car and drove all the way into Houston.
While trying to go to Paris...we leave Houston to LaGuardia in New York, took a shuttle to Newark, got stuck and stayed there, spent three days in New York, flew to Minneapolis, spent the night there, flew to Chicago, took a plane to Dallas, stopped in Kansas City, landed in Dallas and drove back to Houston.
In an attempt to go halfway around the world...we go halfway around the country.
